To put some UKE in the world

Day 30 of Ukevember! Merry Christmas, Darling (The Carpenters)

I know, I know. The Christmas music has invaded the radios and now my blog. I’m sorry but it’s an absolute favorite. 😉

We have come to an end of Ukevember…I really appreciate the support, the reading, the listening, the uploading of ukulele videos. I’ve learned that there are way too many songs in the world to choose from, that I can never remember what Gm7 or C9 are, that I have some devoted watchers, and that I need to find a way to keep uploading videos in a fun way.

Don’t fret, I’ll be ukulele fretting my way again soon. Any requests?

Song: Merry Christmas, Darling (The Carpenters). Chords and Lyrics.

Day 29 of Ukevember! Edelweiss / Artificial Flowers (Sound of Music / Bobby Darin)

Oops, I know I told you to guess in the video…

Someday I’d like to put a couple of ‘flower’ songs together. Maybe you could suggest some of your favorite songs that have flowers in them?

Song: Edelweiss / Artificial Flowers (Sound of Music / Bobby Darin). Chords and Lyrics.

Day 28 of Ukevember! One More Girl by The Wreckers

There is one part of a line that is true for me in these lyrics. I wonder if you can guess it?

Song: One More Girl by The Wreckers. Chords and Lyrics.

Day 27 of Ukevember! For Once in My Life (Stevie Wonder)

This song has been recorded many times…each one I think different and unique. It’s a great song but I need to work on the strum on this one!

Song: For Once in My Life (Stevie Wonder). Chords and Lyrics.

Day 26 of Ukevember! When You Say Nothing At All (Allison Krauss)

Animals show love in different ways, as people do. Some show love by biting the spouses head off (literally and figuratively), others choose affectionate words, and some use non-verbal and sometimes “invisible-to-the-eye-of-the-opposite-sex” signs (i.e. actions done that are overlooked by the other). There are songs for all of the above. Who knows what the right mix is, or what the perfect potion for every relationship is–you will find a song for every one of them.

Song: When You Say Nothing at All (Allison Krauss). Chords and Lyrics.

Day 25 of Ukevember! You and I (Ingrid Michaelson)

Busy, busy times…holidays…and not too much staying at home. Today’s video is from the past, but if you haven’t seen it before from Facebook, this will be your first time! We actually played this one on Thanksgiving Day but this was recorded in August 2011.

Song: You and I by Ingrid Michaelson. Chords and Lyrics.

Day 24 of Ukevember! I Can’t Get Started With You (Ira Gershwin and Vernon Duke)

Happy Turkey Day! Today is a day for being thankful. This should happen more than just one day a year. We should all be repeat offenders of this special day. Be thankful, give your heart to your loved, and give your body to tons of food from your loved.

There is a special guest in today’s video and the song is played for Nanaw and Pawpaw. The only thing missing is the trumpet solo. 🙂

Song: I Can’t Get Started With You. Chords and Lyrics

Day 23 of Ukevember! Stand Still Look Pretty by The Wreckers

Today’s tribute comes from a memory of my old roommate singing this song and introducing “The Wreckers” to me. I love this song and many of their others–look them up.

Happy pre-Thanksgiving! Hope you are with family and enjoying life. 🙂 I know I am, but I miss my other family, too. 🙂

Song: Stand Still, Look Pretty by The Wreckers. Chords and Lyrics

Day 22 of Ukevember! Come Away With Me by Norah Jones

I’ve always loved this song. I know I can do it better, but time is of the essence! We’re driving to family for Thanksgiving festivities. This drive is long enough!

Song: Come Away With Me (Norah Jones). Chords and Lyrics.

Day 21 of Ukevember! Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen

Hallelujah, we are closer to the finish of Ukevember. I’ve only been practicing each song on the day of, so it’s getting harder and harder to think of what songs should come next. Maybe some Michael Jackson in the future…if I can find time to practice it!

Song: Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen. Chords and Lyrics.
