To put some UKE in the world

Day 13 Ukevember ’12! Mumford & Sons “I Will Wait”

I believe this one’s for the spiritual person. I didn’t grow up with a mandatory Sunday outing to church or a nightly prayer before bed. If anything, my mandatory ‘thing’ everyday was to do my ‘chores’. That was what was important in our house. I guess somebody has to do it – keep things clean, having a healthy looking house, right? What about keeping your mind and spirit healthy?
I always wonder what my schoolmates did everyday in their household. Was everyone else reading bible scriptures and praying for health and freeing spirit? I’ve learned a lot about spirituality in the last couple years. I’ll save that for another post.
What I HAVE learned is that unless you’re in a vastly populated Hispanic community, or the African-American community, your music at church will be a lot different.
I’ve been adding to my spiritual practice here in Phoenix, but what has been lacking is the music. There is a church…name unlisted…while they have great musicians…their songs lack words and depth. In attending this church we’ve sung songs that have one line over and over again. I would love to see this song (or others like it) played in the church. If the words aren’t right, we’ll make better ones.
For now, I think these are good ones to start with.
Take a look.
